Online Catalogue | Bay Laurel Hedging and Topiary (Laurus nobilus)
The beautiful, classy Bay Laurel is a cut above many hedging species. Its dark green leaves are heavily aromatic, hence their use over the centuries and across the world, in cooking and preserving. It has pale yellow flowers and black berries - but it's not really grown as a flowering or berrying hedge - it's best use is to provide a dense, dark green background.Bay Laurel is from the Mediterranean region and we would only recommend it for milder areas of this country - or sunny, sheltered situations. At the bottom of this listing you will find our range of Bay Laurel Topiary standards (that's a clear stem with a crown or head on top) - these are beautiful quality plants. We do not grow these plants ourselves because there are specialists in Europe (ours come from a hand picked grower in Italy). Topiary is expensive but you have to bear in mind that it is several years old - the larger standards will be 8 or 10 years old and will have been trimmed several times, watered every day, fed regularly and re-potted when needed.Don't forget to order RootGrow and/or Bonemeal.
