Berberis Hedging (Berberis x Ottawensis "Auricoma")

Berberis (Berberis x Ottowensis "Auricoma") is a very popular prickly red/purple leafed hedge - good for bringing some colour into the garden whilst keeping unwanted visitors out! It's fast growing and it's spines are long and very sharp, it has a mass of yellow flowers in Spring and red fruits in Autumn. It's leaves turn even brighter red as Autumn approaches. It has an arching rather than upright habit so welcomes some support (really good grown against a fence) but it can be trained to be self supporting and upright. It is deciduous.
