This evergreen hedging variety has an arching habit and the sight of the tiny milky white flowers on arching branches is very attractive. Red berries can be plentiful and stay on the plant well into winter. The leaves are dark green, deeply veined, and leathery, white felted underneath (giving a silvery appearance in the wind). This reliable variety is suited for sun or shade, coastal or inland and even cold/exposed sites. Cotoneaster lacteus makes a beautiful hedge from 1m to 1.5m in height, or slightly taller. It is easy to trim after flowering and should be trimmed to shape in February. It can be shaped as a neat formal hedge (with weeping stems) and is also good brimming over a wall or fence.
