Golden Privet is a popular variety of one of the UK's best hedging plants, Privet because it's so easy to clip and is very good in polluted urban areas. It has soft smallish leaves and relatively soft stems so sharp shears trim it in no time at all. The golden variety has yellow edges to the leaves, making it a lovely bright hedge. Whilst it does flower, it's not really grown as a flowering species. It's quite a fast growing hedge plant (not quite as fast as the green Privet) and good in any soil other than heavy wet clay, and good in sun or partial shade. Harmful if eaten.
