Spotted Laurel is a great selection if you want a slow growing evergreen - it only needs a light trim to shape once a year or can be left unpruned for a more informal appearance. Whilst it will eventually reach 3 or 4m if unpruned, it will take many years to achieve that height. It has bright yellow spots on its long tapered leaves - brighter if planted in a sunny spot but still very good colour even in full shade. Spotted Laurel is one of our top recommendations (along with Holly) for deep shade where dry soil is also a problem. It's good in all soils, other than very wet sites and copes well with urban pollution and coastal air.
It produces small flowers in Spring and red berries in Autumn - but is a plant grown for foliage rather than for flowers/berries. Harmful if eaten.
We have pot grown Spotted Laurel hedge plants available all year round.
Don't forget to order RootGrow and/or Bonemeal.
