About Bare RootsBare root hedge plants are fantastic value for money and are hugely popular. Mostly native, deciduous species (think of farm hedges) many of them flower and/or berry so they're great for wildlife. There are some evergreen species which also do well as bare roots - Yew, Laurel, Privet, Box, Holly and Cotoneaster franchetii - bare root season is a great chance to establish what would normally be an expensive hedge at much lower cost. Please read the full explanation of Bare Roots on the right hand side of our website.
They are only available November to early April (when they are dormant).
The species that tend to sell in high volume show discounted prices for quantities but we can offer discounts (even where they are not shown) if you want a large quantity.
If you want a large quantity but want to mix the species, we can do that too - just phone us on 01257 261243 for a discounted quote. We are also happy to quote by email - just drop us a quick email to enquiries@best4hedging.co.uk and specify the quantity, height and species you require - we respond to all emails within 24 hours.
All the species have full descriptions and photographs in the alphabetic listing on the left hand menu. We have also listed here (at the bottom of this listing) our Mixed Native bundles (which are 50% of either Hawthorn or Blackthorn and 10% each of Hawthorn or Blackthorn (whichever is not the base for the hedge) plus 10% each of Dog Rose, Field Maple, Hazel and Wild Cherry - this makes a super wildlife friendly, species rich hedge - at a great price.
Don't forget to order RootGrow and/or Bonemeal - see the information on these essential hedge planting supplements on the menu on the right of our website.
