Leylandii Hedge Plant (Cupressocyparis leylandii)

Leylandii is a very fast growing hedge plant so this is great for tall garden hedging. Because it's so fast growing we can grow it to good starting heights at low cost so it is a very economical solution for long runs of hedging.

Leylandii has a bad reputation (when its allowed to get out of control) but if it's well kept it makes a very good, dense, luxurious and fully evergreen hedge. You can't clip back into "old wood" so you've got to clip it at least once a year.

Conifer hedges like Leylandii are particularly good for noise reduction so are very useful in an urban setting. Although it's a great species for tall hedging, it can be kept at 2m - below that and it's probably not the best choice (see Western Red Cedar as an alternative).

Leylandii hedge plants in pots are available to buy all year round. Leylandii root balls (which are heavier and bushier than pot grown plants at the same height) are available from late October to early/mid April.
