WIN Bird Friendly Hedging Bundles in our RSPB #HomesForNature Competition

rspb ultimate bird friendly plants competition

At Best4hedging, we are proud of the fact we supply hedging plants that provide shelter, produce food and act as a social nesting ground for countless species of birds. Because of this we’ve teamed up with the RSPB to bring you wildlife friendly hedging packs and to celebrate, we’re giving away 3 x RSPB approved Ultimate Bird Friendly Bundles. This competition is in correspondence with the RSPB ‘Giving Nature A Home’ campaign and gives you the opportunity to win a variety of native plants that will attract the much loved birds that are returning visitors to numerous UK gardens.

What do we mean by bird friendly hedging?

Three lucky competitors will receive a bundle of bird friendly plants which include:

Blackthorn Prunus spinosa – prickly stems to protect resting and nesting sites, and abundant sloes in autumn
Field Maple Acer campestre – popular with a variety of insects on which birds feed
Alder Alnus glutinosa – a native species with seeds that are a vital food source for many birds
Guelder Rose Viburnum opulus – the berries of this hedging plant are loved by many birds
Wild Privet Ligustrum vulgare – semi-evergreen foliage makes a great nesting site
Wild Cherry Prunus avium – huge wildlife value and wonderful seasonal interest
Bird Cherry Prunus padus – the small black cherries are adored by many bird species, gorgeous flowers attract many insects
Spindle Euonymus europaeus – bright capsules providing colourful interest opening to reveal tasty fruits
June Berry Amelanchier lamarckii – birds will love the apple flavoured fruits and its profuse flowering in spring

Our RSPB hedging packs not only help with the conservation of the bird population but the diversity provided by hedge units supports many other different wildlife species including insects, hedgehogs and various other small garden animals. This Ultimate RSPB hedging bundle is jam-packed with species that will fill your garden with seasonal interest; colourful flowers in summer, vibrant foliage in autumn and bright berries in winter all whilst contributing to the protection of local wildlife species.
