Gorse Hedge (Ulex Europaeus) description

Gorse boasts golden yellow flowers from spring, right through to the winter. The green foliage makes a great screen and the sharp spines a useful intruder deterrent. Plant a gorse hedge to attract wildlife into your garden. The yellow, scented flowers are very bee friendly as they provide such a long season of nectar.

Pot grown and cell grown plants are available year round and make a great option when planting a hedge. Pots come in various sizes, as do the plants grown in them, and can be planted when convenient for you. These plants will be happy in their pots, given enough water, until you’re ready to plant. Cell Grown plants are usually small, 10-30cm and a great step between Pots and Bare Roots.

Bare root hedging plants are extremely popular. They are delivered and should be planted during the dormant season (usually November to April) and can be pre ordered from mid-summer. We recommend pre-ordering where possible to reserve your plants but take new orders right the way through the season. Bare roots are a cost effective way of planting a new hedge.

Root balls are generally available from October through to April/May, though some species are available year round. The plants are field grown and then lifted with a ‘ball’ of soil around the roots that is secured with hessian and sometimes wire. Root balls are often very impressive plants that can be pre ordered from mid-summer.

Instant hedging provides immediate impact to any project. These hedge units are grown in troughs or strong bags where they are shaped and pruned over many years to create a hedging panel that is already knitted together, producing an impressive instant hedge. Instant hedging is available to plant year round.

Lovely sturdy little plants.
Unfortunately 2 of the 3 had come out of the inserts and rolled around in the box.
They were also all extremely dry

they look excellent, lets hope they perform well, just finished planting them!

Dimensioning of purchased plant height was a little ambitious

On 16-Apr-2015 the supplier responded:
Thanks for your feedback, it really does help in identifying issues and areas in which we can improve.

I'm sorry that you received plants that were under-height. This was a discrepancy between our website and the stock we had on our nursery. As soon as we identified this we amended the website to reflect what is available.

Obviously, because of this, you find yourself in possession of plants that are not as ordered. If you have not yet planted them I'm happy to arrange a collection and refund you in full. If you have now planted them I could offer you a refund of £4.80.

Please contact us directly and we will process whichever solution is best for you. Once again, I'm sorry for the difficulties encountered in your receiving the plants and hope that I can get this resolved swiftly and to your satisfaction.

The pots are 2 litre however the plants are half the size compared to the description given on the website. Four of the plants are very small and weak looking. (We only bought 10 plants) We will plant them all and hope for the best.

On 12-Apr-2015 the supplier responded:
Thank you for taking the time to send us your feedback, we always take on board the responses from our customers and use it to improve our service. I'm pleased that you were happy with the despatch and delivery of your plants but am sorry to hear that they are smaller than stated on our website.
It sounds like the gorse hedging plants you ordered may have been picked from the wrong batch on the nursery site by mistake.
If you would be so kind as to send us in a photograph of the plants against a tape measure or ruler to our email address then I can reveiw this and may be able to offer you a refund down to the size of plant below seeing as you have already planted the specimens.
I will look forward to hearing from you.

Packing resulted in some shoots being broken

On 16-Mar-2015 the supplier responded:
Product :Thanks for leaving your feedback, it really does help in identifying areas where we can improve our service.

I'm sorry that the plants seem to have been somewhat roughly handled during transit. The vast majority of orders are received without any damage, but when dealing with plants, inevitably there are times where some slight damage is apparent upon arrival. In cases such as this we would always guarantee the plants for you, in that, should there be any problem in their developing over the first six months we will replace the specimens for you.

I hope that this reassures you somewhat. If you have any further questions or queries, please do not hesitate to contact us again using the details below.
