Benefits of low hedging

Low hedging has a number of benefits, it can used to define garden borders, pathways and boundaries. Small hedges are easy to maintain and add structure to garden designs. A popular use for short hedging is to plant a flowering, low hedge in front of a taller, evergreen hedge. Not only does this add seasonal interest it also allows the border hedge to stand out against the lush green canvas for a dramatic display.

Hedging plants suited to low hedges

Many of our dwarf or compact hedging varieties are obvious choices for low hedging, however many other species are also easy to maintain at lower heights. For example, some of our hedging conifers can be kept to 1.2m or slightly less so should not be ruled out as a choice of low hedging.
