What's inside our Mixed Hedging? Hawthorn, Dog Rose, Field Maple, Hazel, Wild Cherry, Blackthorn
An incredibly popular mixed native hedging option, these Hawthorn based mixed hedging packs are made up of six native species that are specifically chosen for their ability to complement one another. Our mixed Hawthorn hedging bundles boast haws, hips, nuts, flowers and sloes, providing you with a species-rich, native hedgerow that will attract a diverse range of wildlife, whilst offering seasonal interest. This mixed Hawthorn hedging is relatively prickly and has a long flowering period that bees will love.
At Best4hedging, our Hawthorn based mixed hedging packs have become a very popular choice due to their suitability to the climate in the UK, the Channel Islands and France.
Bare root bundles consist of a base of 50% Hawthorn and 10% of each of the following hedge plants;
Cell grown mixed Hawthorn hedging bundles differ slightly in proportion from the above, but still create a fantastic wildlife friendly, native screen. 40-50% and 10-12% of the bulleted varieties above.
Please note, for our tallest mixed pack (120/150cm) our Dog Rose plants are supplied at 90/120cm. As it is a relatively fast growing species, it will soon catch up to the other species in your hedging pack.
Please note the species contained in this pack can change slightly due to seasonal availability.
Mixed native hedging is ideal for paddocks and agricultural use. Our mixed Hawthorn hedging also works particularly well when used for garden hedging, offering year-round interest and a burst of colour and texture.
You can develop this mix by adding other native species. Some of the best plants to compliment your mixed Hawthorn hedge are: Crab Apple, Elder, Guelder Rose and Holly.
Our mixed hedging packs will have an average growth rate of 20-40cm a year and are ideal for heights of 1m - 4m.
Trim your mixed Hawthorn hedge in the summer to maintain a neat shape and if required, it is possible to cut back harder in late autumn. Please view our Hedging Care Advice section for further information.
