Pot grown and cell grown plants are available year round and make a great option when planting a hedge. Pots come in various sizes, as do the plants grown in them, and can be planted when convenient for you. These plants will be happy in their pots, given enough water, until you’re ready to plant. Cell Grown plants are usually small, 10-30cm and a great step between Pots and Bare Roots.

Bare root hedging plants are extremely popular. They are delivered and should be planted during the dormant season (usually November to April) and can be pre ordered from mid-summer. We recommend pre-ordering where possible to reserve your plants but take new orders right the way through the season. Bare roots are a cost effective way of planting a new hedge.

Root balls are generally available from October through to April/May, though some species are available year round. The plants are field grown and then lifted with a ‘ball’ of soil around the roots that is secured with hessian and sometimes wire. Root balls are often very impressive plants that can be pre ordered from mid-summer.

Instant hedging provides immediate impact to any project. These hedge units are grown in troughs or strong bags where they are shaped and pruned over many years to create a hedging panel that is already knitted together, producing an impressive instant hedge. Instant hedging is available to plant year round.

Some items arrived damaged, however, this was clearly the fault of the courier company. After advising Best4Hedging, they swiftly refunded my card for the damaged shrub and advised they would take the matter up with the courier.

On 27-Jul-2014 the supplier responded:
Product :Thanks for taking the time to leave your feedback, it really is appreciated. I'm sorry to hear that your Mock Orange plant was a little weary-looking after its journey to you. Mock Orange is considerably vulnerable to excessive darkness and extreme heat; this may well account for its appearance upon receipt. You obviously did the right thing and watered immediately.

Whilst we are always monitoring our prices to try and be as competitive as possible every so often it transpires that, because of the need to move stock, someone can pick up an absolute bargain locally and for this we apologise. One thing I will say is that all of our stock is grown and tended to outdoors to give it a strength when the weather turns cooler so I'm sure that you will have no problems with it establishing and surviving until the next season. That said, if you do experience any problems please contact us on 01257 261243 or at enquiries@best4hedging.co.uk and we'll help however we can.

I hope that reassures you somewhat. If you have any other questions, queries or comments contact us directly and feel free to ask for me, personally.
