RHS Hedges

Our range of hedging plants have been carefully selected for their high quality so it's no surprise many of our hedging species have received the RHS Award of Garden Merit. Our award-winning hedging plants cover a wide range of different uses, from evergreen, screening hedges to ornamental garden hedging.

The history of RHS hedging plants

The RHS Award of Garden Merit (AGM) was first established in 1922 to decide the quality and standard of garden plants. Each plant is scrutinised and trialled for at least one year under UK growing conditions. If it meets the criteria set out it's awarded the prestigious AGM. All plants are reviewed annually and can lose their Award of Garden Merit if the plant is no longer available or if it has been superseded by a superior cultivar. The criteria states, amongst other things, that a winning plant must: be of outstanding excellence for garden decoration or use; must not require specialist growing conditions or care and must not be susceptible to any pest or disease.

Our choice of RHS award-winning hedging plants include a mixture of hedging shrubs, garden hedges, native hedging and conifer hedging. With such a diverse choice, it's easy to find the right RHS hedging species for your garden or planting scheme. By choosing any of our RHS hedging plants you can be confident in the quality of the plant species and of course in the standard we provide as a UK hedging expert.
