Single 35L bags of topsoil can be purchased when your order total is £200+ ex VAT*

When planting a new hedge or tree it is always advised to check the quality of your soil. Plants require a certain amount of nutrients in order to thrive and all plants look for these nutrients in the first 5-20 cm (2-8inches) of the soil, hence the name Topsoil!

Benefits of planting with Topsoil

  • pH level of 5.5-6.0
  • Adds essential nutrients
  • Ideal for leveling lawns or new flower beds
  • Specially selected, sterilised and graded

We offer single 35L bags of specially selected topsoil which are easy to handle. Single bags of Topsoil require a minimum order quantity of £200 ex. vat (any combination of plants/planting equipment). For large planting schemes that will require a bulk order of top soil we offer a discounted pallet deal - 35 x 35L bags for £217 ex. vat.

*If your order does not meet the £200 minimum requirement but you would like to purchase the 35L bags, please give us a call on 01257 261 243 and we will come up with a solution.

Pot grown and cell grown plants are available year round and make a great option when planting a hedge. Pots come in various sizes, as do the plants grown in them, and can be planted when convenient for you. These plants will be happy in their pots, given enough water, until you’re ready to plant. Cell Grown plants are usually small, 10-30cm and a great step between Pots and Bare Roots.

Bare root hedging plants are extremely popular. They are delivered and should be planted during the dormant season (usually November to April) and can be pre ordered from mid-summer. We recommend pre-ordering where possible to reserve your plants but take new orders right the way through the season. Bare roots are a cost effective way of planting a new hedge.

Root balls are generally available from October through to April/May, though some species are available year round. The plants are field grown and then lifted with a ‘ball’ of soil around the roots that is secured with hessian and sometimes wire. Root balls are often very impressive plants that can be pre ordered from mid-summer.

Instant hedging provides immediate impact to any project. These hedge units are grown in troughs or strong bags where they are shaped and pruned over many years to create a hedging panel that is already knitted together, producing an impressive instant hedge. Instant hedging is available to plant year round.
