Our Western Red Cedar (Thuja plicata) hedge plants are a popular alternative to Leylandii. Thuja plicata boasts a spray of bright green, fragrant foliage and is easy to maintain. Western Cedar, as it is more commonly known, has a fairly vigorous growth rate and does not suffer from browning when old growth is cut into. A Western Red Cedar hedge provides a wonderful screen, has windbreak and noise reducing qualities and forms a striking conifer display. With its dense habit and lush green leaves, Western Cedar makes it into Best4hedging's top 10.
