This beautiful white flowering Agapanthus is an evergreen perennial unlike some of the purple coloured varieties so keeps its foliage year round to provide colour and structure even in winter borders.
Agapanthus 'Albus' is a white-flowering form of Agapanthus also called the White African Lily. Unlike other varieties which die back to emerge again in spring, Agapanthus 'albus' retains its long, narrow, erect leaves year round, giving your borders another planting dimension in winter other than shrubs. This lovely evergreen perennial blooms with clusters, also called umbels, of stunning pure-white trumpet-shaped flowers in late summer, which are very popular with bees and other pollinating insects too.
Agapanthus 'Albus' will be happy in a full sun, sheltered location and thrives in any soil type as long as well-drained. It grows to around 1m in height and 50cm spread and is the perfect addition to a sunny border. It particularly suits modern planting schemes and contrasts well with other colourful flowering plants, especially purple flowering or silver-leaved plants. The large flower heads also make lovely cut flowers!
Easy to maintain, Agapanthus 'Albus' only needs a good layer of mulch to protect the roots in colder areas in winter and deadheading of flowers to prolong blooming in summer.
