Rest assured, we only send top quality plants to be proud of and we have in place quality control measures that ensure you receive strong, healthy plants. However, we accept that sometimes things can go wrong and plants can fail. If any of your plants purchased from best4hedging fail within the first 12 months after delivery, we will either advise on how to help them recover, if we think they can, or replace them like for like if we agree they've failed, as long as the conditions of our guarantee have been met.
Plant Guarantee Qualifying Conditions
Condition 1: Plant using Rootgrow and a secondary plant feed from the following list:
Rootgrow Mycorrhizal Fungi is ideal for application during planting, and we advise using it for all planting projects to ensure a well-established root system, better drought tolerance, healthier plant growth and superior establishment.
Bonemeal is a slow release fertiliser that can be used at the time of planting and seasonally to improve the quality of the soil.
AfterPlant Evergreen Bio-Active Fertiliser is for use specifically with evergreen plants after planting to encourage lush and healthy growth. It complements the use of Rootgrow as a planting aid helping to strengthen and nourish the plants.
Seaweed Bio-Stimulant is ideal for any plant type. When used in conjunction with Rootgrow, the liquid seaweed can speed up the mycorrhizal fungi colonisation by up to 60% creating a highly efficient root support process to promote healthy root development and establishment.
Condition 2: Prepare your planting area before you begin
Make sure you weed thoroughly weed the planting area beforehand and continue to keep on top of weeds during the first few years of establishment. This ensures that there is no competition for nutrients and helps your plants thrive.
Condition 3: Immediate and ongoing care for your plants
If your local area is prone to rabbits and/or windy conditions, then do consider planting with rabbit guards and stakes to keep them protected. (Applies mainly to deciduous bare roots)
While they are young and just establishing themselves, plants (and hedging plants are no exception) need regular watering. Water generously during planting and throughout dry periods. Direct water to the base of the plants, not to the foliage during very hot and sunny weather, otherwise water can burn the leaves as it evaporates. In hot weather it's best to water first thing in the morning or last thing at night.
Light rain may not provide enough water. Sometimes it's not enough to reach the roots, so your plants may still need watering. It's always best to check.
In case of extreme cold weather we would recommend laying a fleece bag or any breathable material over plants that have been newly planted. Just be sure to remove it once the temperatures rise to prevent suffocating your plants.

Issues: What To Do and How To Contact Us
If you have plants that you think have failed, we need your help in identifying the cause of any failures. To help us do this we ask you to provide the following information via email:
Your original Order Number and delivery postcode.
Your full name and contact telephone number.
Clear photos of the plants in their planting area and a close-up image of the affected part(s) of the plants.
Once we have reviewed the photos, we will advise on next steps. Any plants we think have failed we will replace. Replacements are provided in good faith that they have been planted and cared for according to our recommendations. This enables us to ensure that the conditions were optimal for the plants to thrive. In the event of a replacement, all we ask is that you cover the delivery costs.
*Please note the guarantee will replace failed plants from your original order like for like, but if these also fail we will not replace as it may be down to soil or environmental conditions beyond our control. We do not offer refunds under our guarantee.
Do not hesitate to contact us with any queries, we’re always happy to help
