Leylandii Hedge Plants | Cupressocyparis

Leylandii hedging is what most of our customers have in their minds eye when they ask for conifer hedging, it's well renowned for it's very fast growth rate and fragrant, evergreen foliage.

Leylandii hedging has also, from time-to-time, been labelled as a bit of a brute, usually because it is allowed to get too large, however we're of the opinion that the Leylandii cypress is a vital hedging option for those seeking quick impact and shouldn't be rejected - in fact it should be rejoiced, with a growth rate of up to nearly a metre a year, evergreen screening and noise reduction properties, Leylandii hedging is a classic choice.

Leylandii hedging, a match made in heaven

The Cupressocyparis leylandii hedging plant is a hybrid of the Nootka cypress, originating in Alaska, and the Monterey cypress, native to California. They met in the estate gardens of Christopher Leyland in Wales during the 1800's. A match made in heaven, these two varieties produced a hedging conifer with both a fast growth rate and reliable hardiness, the Leylandi, or Leyland Cypress was born and remains today the top choice for many gardeners due to these desirable qualities.

If you're looking to plant a privacy screen but leylandii hedging isn't hitting the spot, then please take a look at our range of evergreen hedging for more choices.
