Blue Fescue (Festuca ovina Glauca) is a striking ornamental grass popular for its icy-blue foliage and compact, tufted form. Its fine, spiky leaves form a dense, rounded clump that provides an eye-catching contrast against green-leaved plants and softens paths, borders or rockery edges with its unique colour and texture. In summer, it produces delicate, airy flower spikes that rise above the foliage, adding both height and movement.

Blue Fescue will develop the strongest colour if planted in a full sun position, in any free-draining soil type except clay. This evergreen grass will add colour, texture and movement all year round and doesn't mind where it's planted.

Growing only to around 50cm height and spread, Festuca glauca is both drought-tolerant and low-maintenance - just comb out any dead leaves in early spring and allow the soil to dry slightly between waterings.  It's ideal for contemporary garden designs, borders, or containers and offers year-round visual and architectural interest.
