Geranium macrorrhizum, also known as Big-root Cranesbill, is an extremely hardy, mat-forming, semi-evergreen perennial with incredible versatility and colour. Its leaves are attractive in themselves and aromatic; their lobed, toothed shape is gently rounded off and they can take on hues of red, bronze and purple in the autumn for additional seasonal interest. The pretty pink and magenta flowers with elongated stamens sit on short stems hovering above the foliage, and bloom continually throughout the summer months.

Adaptable to any soil as long as it is moist but well-drained and any light conditions including full shade, Geranium macrorrhizum will tolerate even the harshest weather and is drought resistant too.

It grows to a maximum height of 50cm and spread of 1m.
