Geum 'Mrs Bradshaw' is an ideal front of or mid-border herbaceous perennial. It has simple, semi-double flowers in scarlet which bloom in late spring/summer on purple stems and are a magnet for bees and other pollinators. This mound-forming perennial is very hardy and low maintenance, perfect for cottage style gardens and adds a long-lasting, vibrant pop of colour to your planting scheme.
Known commonly as Avens 'Mrs Bradshaw', Geum chiloense Mrs J. Bradshaw (to give it its full latin name), is the ideal perennial to give your beds, borders or even pots a lovely cottage garden feel and a pop of colour from the bright scarlet-red flowers, which bloom on upright, purple wiry stems through late spring and summer.
A mound-forming, reliable flowering plant, it's especially popular for wildlife gardens as the open blooms are a magnet for bees, butterflies and other beneficial pollinating insects. It is used to best effect when planted in groups and pairs very well with plants such as grasses, Salvias or Alliums for a textural and visual feast of colour and movement.
Plant in full-sun in well-drained soil of any type except clay and water regularly if the weather is hot. Otherwise Geum Mrs Bradshaw is very hardy and low maintenance - simply deadhead to prolong blooming time and give a little trim back after flowering has finished to neaten up. Being mostly pest and disease free, Geum Mrs Bradshaw is a little gem for gardeners of any ability!
This lovely perennial will grow to around 50cm height and spread.
