Panicum virgatum 'Northwind' is an upright, clump-forming perennial grass with blue-green leaves that turn golden in autumn. Airy pink-green flower sprays appear in summer through autumn. Low-maintenance and drought-tolerant, it adds height, texture, and movement to beds, borders, or containers, growing to around 1.5m tall.
Panicum virgatum 'Northwind', is a type of switch grass. This clump-forming, upright grass hash blue-green linear leaves which turn yellow-orange in autumn before dying back. In summer and lasting through to mid-autumn, the grass produces sprays of tiny pink and green flowers.
Classed as a perennial grass which dies back and returns each year, Panicum 'Northwind' is an ideal grass for punctuating beds and borders and for adding structure, height, colour, texture and movement. Its upright form and neat clumping habit create an architectural feature to add visual interest. It's a versatile grass, adaptable to any garden planting scheme and can be container grown or planted in.
Plant in full sun in well-drained soil. Drought tolerant once established Panicum 'Northwind' will grow to around 1.5m tall by 1m wide and only requires a tidy up to remove any dead foliage and old flower stems in spring. Otherwise it needs no maintenance and is pest and disease free.
Supplied in a 2L pot for planting at any time of year.
