Alnus glutinosa is a native, deciduous hedge plant that thrives in wet soils and can sometimes improve the quality of poor soils as it boasts nitrogen-fixing properties. Common Alder is a fantastic, fast-growing shrub with glossy dark green foliage and reddish-brown catkins.
