Cell grown hedging is the most economical option available to purchase year-round. Cell grown hedge plants are a good midway between bare root plants and small pot grown plants. Unlike bare roots plants they come with their roots intact but are not as developed as large pot plants. This is reflected in the price as they are slightly more expensive than bare roots (with added benefits) and more economical than pot grown plants.
As the roots are intact there has been no loss of feeding roots or the protective root hair. This contributes toward their high success rate. Cell grown plants can be planted year-round but they will establish more rapidly when planted into warm soil during the months of March to June and September to October. If planting in the middle of summer, ensure the roots are kept moist. If planting after October and before March avoid planting if the ground is frozen or waterlogged. At Best4hedging we highlyrecommend planting with Rootgrow, an organic fertiliser endorsed by the Royal Horticultural Society.
Automatic discounts and large orders
We have a minimum order quantity with Cell grown hedging plants of 12 per species. However, we do also include automatic discounts on large quantities using our price brake chart.
For example, if you order 1 plant it costs £2.68 but if you order 100+ it costs £2.54
